Why central storage is not enough

The issue is usually not the lack of central storage.
The issue is that there are still multiple routes for change and output. You can see that in:
- numbers that turn out slightly differently from one team to another
- reports that need to be reopened
- definitions that are not applied consistently everywhere
- analyses that require more validation than they should
In that case, you may have central storage, but you still do not have a true Single Source of Truth.

Organizations that get this right do not just focus on where data is stored, but especially on how changes are made and how output moves through the organization. They organize a central branch: one controlled route for changes and one consistent route to output. That is what makes the difference. It allows teams to work faster without constantly having to realign, validate or correct.
